An Interview with Cathy Thurber

INTLXS: Tell us your INTLXS story
CATHY:I have worked here for six years. My title is risk placement specialist, “a glorified renewal girl” as I like to call it. I deal with brokerage renewals, personal lines and a myriad of things in between!

INTLXS: What exactly is your guilty pleasure?
CATHY:Ice cream! I love ice cream. I could eat it if it was 2 degrees below. I have to have an ice cream cake on my birthday every year, there will be trouble if there’s not and people know this. And it has to be the kind with the crunchies in the middle, not the ones with cake on the bottom and ice cream on the top.

INTLXS: Who is your look-a-like or evil twin?
CATHY: My daughter, she's my mini me although I can't really call her that because she is 5'2". She's my evil twin too, she's got my personality.

INTLXS: Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself
CATHY: 1. I hope to repel myself off a mountain one day 2.I once wanted to be the first female horse jockey 3. I own medieval weapons (call or email Cathy to figure out the lie!)

INTLXS: If you had to be locked inside a building for a year where would it be and why?
CATHY: In the library, I am an avid reader and I love the smell of books, it relaxes me.  However, if I were in a library for a year I would have to make sure I had my ice cream cake!

INTLXS: What is your favorite TV show?
CATHY: With the help of DVR, I am addicted to Chuck, American Idol, Vampire Diaries and any Sci-Fi shows/movies having to do with weather destructing the Earth.

INTLXS: What is your favorite video game?
CATHY: Galaga, an old 1980's arcade game. If I see one in a mall I have to stop by and play it.

INTLXS: What kind of car are you?
CATHY: I am an SUV because I am always running my kids everywhere (so I need a lot of room for their sports junk) plus I like to look good while I drive fast.  In all honesty, I’m really just a taxi for my kids. Maybe when I’m older I’ll be a 50’s Corvette in powder blue - I have always wanted one!

INTLXS: What is the best trait your kids got from you?
CATHY: My sarcasm and sense of humor, I am not sure if that's necessarily a good thing, you'd have to ask their teachers.

INTLXS: What TV personality are you most like?
CATHY: People compare me all of the time to Scully from X-Files, but I think I am most like Reba McIntire from the show Reba, it must be the red hair.
